Since 1992 Borchardt on Gendarmenmarkt has been the canteen of German power: ministers, actors and correspondents under high columns, eating the Wiener Schnitzel that half the country claims to have had here. The kitchen does French brasserie classics well, the room is loud and beautiful, and the people-watching is unmatched in Germany.
