Figlmüller
The schnitzel that hangs over the plate
Figlmüller in the Wollzeile passage has served its plate-sized schnitzel since 1905: pork pounded thin, fried golden in three pans of oil, served with potato salad and a wedge of lemon in a room full of tourists and locals who queue for the same thing. It is a Vienna institution, not a secret, and it is still worth the wait.
