Brenner occupies the former royal stables on Maximilianstraße: a huge vaulted hall with an open charcoal grill at its centre, olive trees, a pasta counter and a crowd that mixes Munich society with visitors from the luxury boutiques next door. Steaks and fish come off the grill, the pasta is made in view and lunch is as busy as dinner.
